misfire problem

well i went to start my car this morning and it tried to start then it backfired and died. well i tried to start it again and it started it was ideling very rough and he check engine light was flashing. now i dont know if its a spark plug problem or a coil problem. but how would i test the coil packs???? and any suggestions on what else it could be.

I would pull the plugs first, as well see what code it is throwing.

Cake, mine pops and backfires all the time but mine is a piece of junk lol.

Start your car and while it idling unhook each plug wire, one at a time, hold it close to the plug tip and listen for it to make a popping noise. If you can hear it, or visibly see it firing its not your packs (Engine will also run rough if you disconnect a properly firing cylinder). Start there, if one cylinder is not firing change your pack. If you can hear/see it spark check plugs.
