4 speed auto trouble
Thursday, February 08, 2007 1:08 PM
my car ever since the transmisson has went out the 1st of 2 times it has never shifted into fourth gear......wtf is going on?
when i got it originally it shifted at around 90MPH into 4th. now it tops out at 106-107MPH in 3rd! granted i left off the gas going 90 or so then punch it drops down into third. does anyone have idea to the problem? ive been told my cable needs adjusted but dunno. plus its beenrebuilt by the dealership twice once for 2700 bucks and it still didnt shift into 4th. third gear revving is ridiculous especially at the track bogging the car down

Is the torque convertor locking up? Check engine light on? Is the fluid discolored, full?

I could be wrong here, but you should be well into the rev limiter in third gear at 90MPH, let alone more than 100MPH. I'm pretty sure you would have to be in top gear to attain those speeds.

no CEL on....dunno bout torque converter....havent checked fluid yet....
my point is that i drove it as soon as the dealership gave it back twice and both times it topped out in 3rd gear full bore only time it goes into 4th is wwhen i would left off the gas in the 90+ range
