Tuesday, March 20, 2007 5:52 AM
I have a cavalier at my shop that has a no start.. it will crank but wont fire.. the gas guage is broken and I dont hear a fuel pump so I'm beginning to suspect that it is the FP.. The car is a bone stock 5sp.

Anyone got any Ideas? I dont have a Fuel Pressure guage either

Fuel Pump was operative, however it is hard to start a motor that doesnt have any compression... Leakdown test reveals the bad head gasket.

I have a 95 sunfire that Im working on. Has fuel, spark, injector pulse, new wires, plugs, ig module,145-150 compression, It will try to start but never does. It will crank just fast enough to almost kick the starter out. Its almost like the spark is out of time. Has any one ran into this. Could it be the computer. i have changed a couple of 95 computers before but they will usually run fine for a while.
I have spent days on this thing, especially pulling the plugs to clean the fuel out of the cylinders and off of the plugs. All orf the plugs get good spark, thats the weird thing. Oh I changed the map sensor too, as a last ditch effort.

Ahh head gasket. That's a fun job. Have fun with the power steering bracket on the underside of the lower intake manifold.
