2.2 to 2.4 Swap Wiring Harness Question
Tuesday, March 27, 2007 10:48 PM
I have a 1997 Cavalier 2.2 auto that I'm swapping a 1997 2.4 5 speed into from a Sunfire. I couldn't swap the interior wiring harness from the Fire to the Cav because it was cut at the firewall. My question is can I just plug the engine wiring harness from the 2.4 to the plug at the firewall on my Cav? The Cav has all the same options as the Sunfire had (AC, Tach, Power Locks, etc), the only difference being the engines/transmissions. I've been searching for about 45 minutes, and every post I come across says to swap the wiring harness, but it doesn't say to swap the whole harness, or just the engine bay harness. Thanks in advance for any info.

Also forgot to mention, the engine wiring harness is from a 1996 Sunfire. The only difference I see on it is that it has an oil level sensor in the oil pan. Anyone know if all this is plug and play, or have the schematic so I can compare years? Thanks in advance.

The harness MAY swap over. It should be the same connector on all 95-99 cars.
