there is a bit of a problem with the factory stereo. normally, it stays on after shutting off the car until the door is opened. however, i think perhaps the switch that controls the domelight/cd player is stuck in. the radio stays on for several minutes after the car is shut off. is there an easy way to bypass this auto-shutoff feature or would it be better to try to replace the switch? and so, how would one go about replacing it?

switch is cheap, just replace it and see where you are.

does your dome light come on when you open the door.? if not it is the switch, they are cheap and takes about 15 seconds to replace, just pull out the old one, unplug it, plug in the new one, pop it in place and then slowly close the door to set the pin depth, and your done

switch in the door jam stuck... same thing happened to me... 2005 sunfire

easy and cheap to replace, grab her with some pliers and pull it out. just dont drop the plug back in the hole... THAT took a long time to get back out.

As long as the driver's door isn't opened after turning the car off, the radio should stay on for ten minutes before shutting off as well.
