2000 cavalier engine swap options

Im just wondering which is the easiest motor swap to do the ln9 z24 motor and tranny or the 2.2 ecotec? i have a 2000 ln2 2200 series motor and i believe that the ecotec tranny for the cavalier through 04 is the same the only difference is the clutch setup which also should work if the 2200 series flywheel is bolted on the ecotec. Ihave heard that with the ecotec swap you need to do alot more to get it to work. If someone could lend some advice on it either way thanks.nullnullnull

The simple answer is that they're just about the same amount of work. You have to swap the tranny for either engine. The 2200 is in the OHV line, which uses a different bell housing from the DOHC line.

You also have the option to go V6, which is probably just about the same amount of work as either of the above, but without the tranny swap.

If you stick with a motor that was available in our cars, go for the Ecotec. Newer, stronger, better.
