'02 OEM 14" Tire Pressures?
Wednesday, April 25, 2007 10:18 AM
I wanted to check the tire pressures for my '02 Cav sedan with the 14" steelies. Sadly, my tire rating label on the driver's door is faded into obscurity. It looks like it reccomends 38 psi for rears, but that's a guess - both that and the front tire rating are unreadable.

Anyone know what these should be straight from the factory?

That's for the stock tires. Chances are with any sort of miles the tires have been changed at some point. So look at the sidewall of the tire and see what it says tire press. should be.

Sidewalls of tires, from what I understand, state only the maximum PSI they can handle - not what the OEM actually prescribes for the car.

On my Century, the tires read something close to 42 PSI; inflated to that, the car rode like a tractor on a cobblestone street. The OEM's label on the door read 32 psi and once the tires were put back to this pressure, it rode much better.

I'll keep 'em around 33-35 and see what happens.

....keep em all around that 32 psi ...play with it a bit see if you find the ride better with closer to 35 psi or 30.....
