easiest way to remove windows
Sunday, April 29, 2007 6:18 PM
I have a 03 Chevy Cavy and i was wondering what would be the easiest way to remove the windows in my driver and passanger door (i have a 2door )

any input would be greatly appreciated

I know i'd have to take off the door panel but is there any specific way to get it out once i have the door panel off will the window just slide out if i have it rolled down all the way

Thanks

Jimmy

You have to drill the rivets out. So yah take the door panel off and slide the window down. Then drill the rivets out and pull glass out through top of door making sure to bring it out the outside part of the top of the door.

Drill rivits? Did they change it since 01?
the glass should be attached with 2 10mm bolts at the bottom. Loosen them a couple of turns to clear the notches, the plastic window ends are slotted so you dont have to remove the bolts completely. Pull the window up half way then push the front down and the pull the back up while taking the window up. You may want to remove the gasket where the top of the door panel meets the frame, it just pulls up.

yea when i replaced my window it was 2 10mm bolts that held the retainer to the window frame. pretty much like they said. take the door panel off and then roll the window down til you can see one of the bolts through the holes and take it off, do the same for the other. once their both off then you can til the window forward (towards the headlights) and pull straight up and it will come out.

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.

you can try a rag or something behind it and try to pull the clip out sometimes that works but good luck with that just go get the tool to take it out i picked one up for like 15 bucks makes life easier

They sell a tool for that. just looks like a flat piece of steel with a fancy U shape cut in one end.
I have used a litttle hook type screwdriver before. Looks like a hook on one end and a handle on the other.
If the clip was installed as it came off, the loop of the clip will be opposite the handle side.

yes yes they would. window crank removal tool

but to be honest i can do it in like 3 seconds now. once you get it off once, you'll understand how it works and mentally it amkes it easier to remove.
