Hey guys,
Has anyone else ever had a problem with their AC clutch plate squealing like a banshee>? I have a 99 Z24 and unless I have my AC turned on, it makes a really bad squeal/grinding noise. Anything I can do to help that, or just wait for it too seize up and replace it?
Thanks for the help in advance
yea buy a clutch kit ur ac engages but dosent fully disengage thus the grinding noise
Try to run some sand paper between the clutch face and pulley. Check to make sure that you have around .050 and .060 gap.
It might be the bearing in the pulley. Your gong to need a remover and installer tool if you want to change it.

I had the same problem with my 96 Sunfire GT. In my particular case, the noise came from the coil and not the clutch plate (determined this after the clutch plate was removed with compressor off car). The A/C never worked so I removed the clutch plate and coil, pressed the pulley back on, installed compressor and serpentine belt no further problem. No noise, no A/C but regained former mileage. Good luck, Dave
They sell a A/C Delete pulley if you don't want the weight and non-functioning compressor on there.

Mine had that problem, I took it to a mechanic and they were able to adjust it. Something like a $35 fix?

Sleeper style, they don't see it coming that way.
