I have been looking in to the ecotec motor and there is a 2.4 EcoTec variable valve time (v v t) ihave have seen the plain 2.4 eco but what so special about this specs are about the same
if you cant drive fast.......why drive
the only 2.4 eco has vvt , there is NO plain 2.4
also the 2.4 eco has nothing to do with a 3rd gen cav
no but i have a project cav and i was thinking about put ing a ecotec in it
if you cant drive fast.......why drive
and i would like to know what its going to take to swap an 01 2200 with a 2.2 or 2.4 eco
if you cant drive fast.......why drive
just swap the 2.2 in the 2.4 will be a problem.
ok another question would i get more performance from a 2.0 supercharged eco out of a cobalt or just put a supercharger on my 02 2.2 eco
if you cant drive fast.......why drive
from what im told the 2.0 will bolt up to a 2.2 trans. Not sure how all the wiring and whatnot works tho
its easier to bolt in the 2.2 and put a s/c on it
the 2.0 2.4 have alot of issues when trying to use in a cav
engine will fit for both engines. tranny wont. and there is the wiring issue. better off doing a 2.2 ecotec and putting on a turbo
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
well the super charger was for my 2.2 eco thats in the pic on my page but my friend is going to buy the other one from me and do that so i care about it any more his headache now but if any one knows where i can get a supercharger for my 2.2 fairly cheap i need more HP
if you cant drive fast.......why drive
Is this the main problem with a swap like this or are there too many to list? I have an 2.2 ecotec already but it has high mileage and I was curious about the LE5 (2.4). I had my doubts about it because I wasn't sure if it would bolt up to the stock 4t40 trans.

-wiring for the BCM (if using the delta or whatever ecm)
-56x vs 7x reluctor wheel
-drive by wire throttle body
-would need something to be able to control the vvt (whether it is the stock delta ecm or an aftermarket one)
-different bolt pattern on the flywheel, and the dimensions of the transmission from a 2.0, new 2.2 and 2.4 eco are too large to just "drop in" a cavalier.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some. So, it would definately be easier to swap in a 2.2L than one of the new generation Eco's.

"Youth in Asia"...I don't see anything wrong with that.
I would stay away from the 2.4l eco.... for now... the 2.2 is the way to go.. parts are so hard to find for the 2.4 compared to the 2.2.... even gm has performance kits for your 2.2.. 1500 hp rated internals!!!!!!!!!!!! if you were thinking about upgrading... check out gm's performance parts..... for the 2.2l
