Electric window switch and trunk latch problem
Monday, July 30, 2007 8:16 PM
ok first off what im most pissed about....
my windows would roll down but not up, vices versa, stall... w/e i found wiggling the underside of the switches helped. the other day the wires seemed hot. i knew this ment a short and called the dealership yelled at the manager blah blah....... today i got a cloud of smoke in the &(%^ing face wen i lifted the cover.
so i ask, has anyone else had there problem??? or does anyone know if bad switcheess could really cause the wires to heat so much and melt like that?

as for the trunk latch...
i posted in "exterior" the other day when it happened.
well i the latch connects fine when it not bolted to the trunk. the mechanism is perfectly ok. but it seems to be off keelter. none of the metal seems bent anywhere close to it and i cant adjust it to align. why pop $140 for a new latch when it probaly wont fit either? again, has anyone experienced this??? or any ideas on how to fix it? im thinking of custom welding a bracket but that would a PAIN in the @$$.

thanx for input. i feel like a moron

i dont know about the window. Never ran into a switch burning up before.
The trunk sounds like it just needs adjusted at the latch. The latch on the trunk is adjustable, what you want to do is loosen the 10mm bolts, pull the latch down and center it in the slots and snug them up. slowly close the trunk, when the latch just touches , pay attention whether the lid wants to go to the left or right as you latch it, the adjust the latch accordingly. If the lid wants to go to the right then the latch needs to go to the left. If at that point you still cant get the thing to latch, screw the rubber stoppers in a little, or you can adjust the latch striker up. the striker is bolted from the outside, there are 2 10mm nuts behind the bumper, they are a pain to get to though.

yeah i unbolted the latch earlier, i wouldnt call that adjustable. its got one oval mounting hole. ill adjust the striker tomoro, i assumed it was spot welded. that bit of info could be a god send. and i noticed the stoppers might be keeping from going down enough to click. so yeah btween all that i should be able to get it done. thanks alot dude u saved me at least a buck fortey.

i wish my buddies were on forums for there cars. they'd stop calling me for help on these kinda things lol
