My buddy and I are both trying to figure out which will be better (acceleration and/or top end speed), my sunfire or kis Civic once we both do our engine swaps. I want to stick a 3500 in and he wants to put a K-20 in his. Does anybody have any information/ 2 cent etc. Thanks
Never personally run across the chance myself. The non-vvt 3500 still has a bit more power than the 3400 too.
Really, honestly it's hard to tell. Best I can say is to do the swaps, and try it for yourself. Though, I bet the K20 Civic will probably tear the @!#$ out of you from a dig. The V6 has enough torque to generate lots of tire smoke if you're not careful.
a stock K20A is rated at 220hp from the factory. So race between an all motor 3400/3500 and a boosted K20? I'm sorry but I have to say that the hon-duh should rape your ass.

what year civic?? If its like an EF civic, kiss your ass goodbye. Ive seen stock k20 powered EF's running well into the 13s, with just a motor swap and basic mods.
Personally, Id bet on the honda.
Infantry!!!

Sorry, my eyes must have crossed or something, I was sure I read in the title boosted K20. Actually I remember looking at the title a second time to be sure...

The 3500 is just right around the 200hp mark, and it's probably at a lower RPM by far, so I'm guessing the V6 will be a hell of a lot quicker with the throttle response, but the K20 will smoke it on the top end.
I'm not sure about the throttle response either, after watching some videos on youtube, the civic k20 accelerates like a freken Hayabussa.
My sunfire is a 97 SE, and his Honda is a 93 Civic DX or CX, I don't remember. Its all just talk right now, and none of us are going to boost the engines - well I won't, he might but that would be down the road.
Sry to say it on a GM forum but the Honda will literally beat the @!#$ out of you. A stock K swap in a civic does 13s with traction. I understand the V6 has torque, but so does the K. And with the civic being that much lighter, with more efficient gearing, you won't stand a chance. Sorry lol.

Well don't be sorry, everyone else has been telling him that already. Don't be ashamed.
But with 'more efficient gearing' I dunno about that. I don't know about efficiency of gearing. And I hate how import owners like to throw that E-word out there even though it's complete bull@!#$.
I will however say that when you're using a 2.2 tranny that's geared for the 2.2, and you throw a 3400 on it..... it's "favorable" because the 3400 can turn them over pretty well.
K20 will own.
I never understood the V6 swaps in J bodies, the 4 cylinders can be made much more effiecient without the hassle, unless your car has a 2.2ohv.. then the V6 is reliable hp that probably will cost less.

Lol, don't be sorry people. Its all up for discussion - I've seen some K-20 and K-24 Civics in action and I know they're like motorcycles. But ya I do have a 2.2 OHV which is why its fairly easy to do a V6 swap. Every one is talking like its the end of the world lmao, but thanks for your input guys and/or gals.
Just drop a K20 in your car... it would be a pain.... but you could do it LOL.....
I know it sounds stupid..... but I was going to put a Spoon engine in my 2000 Tiburon that I used to have... but then the cashflow ended... and I don't have the car anymore.
