Okay, so ever since i had my tranny rebuilt, I have a rare intermittent noise while the car idles. every once in a while i swear i hear what sounds like keys jingling very rapidly. (yes, i have grabbed the keys thinking it might be them. Its not
) im fairly certain its from the engine bay, but when i open the hood i cant hear it over the engine noise. The only real place you can hear it is while in the cabin.
My closest guess is my timing chain is a little loose, but i dont want to tear apart my DD and be wrong. anybody have any ideas?
I'll eventually take the time to put something here. I swear.
maybe you have a small critter in your air ducts...

When ever something like that happens to me, i turn up the radio and forget about it. Chances are its just some loose plastics or something with the window tracks, loose screws ect. Check you muffler though! When loose, the will rattle at idle, and if its in poor shape, there may be broken metal in the muffler shaking
Probably not directly related, but just an interesting aside:
On my 97 with 4-speed auto, I tried out an Autotrans Interceptor (similar to the Shiftplus) to increase my transmission line pressure and shift firmness. I ended up getting rid of it, and the main reason was this: I'd get a intermittent sound of metallic rattling from the transmission area, just like jingling keys. It seemed to be the most persistent after that car had warmed right up and the idle speed was lowest. Pull the Autotrans Interceptor out of the harness, and the noise stopped completely. It was on eBay that weekend.
If that helps in the least, then good to you.
