Well on my '99 2.2L after replacing the thermostat I attempted to loosen the bleeder to remove any air pockets after refilling the system and the stupid bleeder snapped off! Argh! Can the system be bled of any air pockets another way? Or do I have to replace this metal coolant pipe that has the bleeder on it which GM tells me ain't that cheap and they have to order it in.

remove rad res cap and let the car run until it stabilizes @ operating temp. then put the cap back on.
been there!
Im not sure on yours but on most of them the bleeder was a 2 piece, the center pin that breaks off and a nut that it screws into, which the whole thing screws in the tube. If yours is 2 pieces, remove the other piece of the bleeder to bleed it. If its not, fill the resivoir completely to the top and run it, like K. Vega said.....

Over $100 they said! I am going to see what the price is at some of the local wreckers.

Okay, so I replaced that metal coolant pipe which came as 2 peices as the weld broke at the junkyard.
Can someone confirm on there '99 2.2L that has the metal coolant piping that sits one on top of the other (not the side by side version!).
The LONGER pipe does it attached to the upper hose or the lower hose at the firewall? Just want to make sure
