I have 97 cav stock steel rims and finally got some nice stock cav hubcaps...but caps wont go on. Looks like each cap has 3 lugs that hold them on.
Is it a special lug? a 2 piece lug or what? I need to find 12 of them as my wife is tired of riding in my "ugly" car. If anyone has them or knows where to get them e-mail me at rpdemink@yahoo.com
Thanks
Ron
you have to remove the plastic caps and then there are 3 lugs that hold it on leave 2 on there to hold the wheel , believe all cavaliers and sunfires have the same lugs except GT and Z24

So, do I use regular lug nuts and then buy some kind of plastic cap that screws onto whatever threads protrude thru the regular lug nuts? I now have chrome lugs that dont let any threads protrude, they look like the lugs used for alloy wheels.
Not to threadjack here but my 03 fire has steelies on now and I picked up a full set of 16 inch gt alloys. Am I going to be able to use the same lugnuts or do I have to get different ones? I'm assuming that the only reason I would have to get different ones would be that the lugnut won't fit in the alloy due to the external threading for the platic caps? Can somebody verify this for me?
lol you need the lugs with threads on the outside of them as well as the inside
3 of the lugs hold the hub cap in place
the threads on the outside of the lugs allow plastic caps to screw over the lugs after the hub cap is in place to hide ur ugly lugs
you can't see the outside threads on these ones cause the plastic cap is already over them
these are with the plastic caps not on
hope this helps

did your car not come with wheel covers it should have lugs like nick oliver posted
ck03bluesunfire what kinda GT wheels did you get if you got 95-99 you can use the stock ones i think just make sure the recess in enought for the centre cap to pop on as for the other years you will want the cavalier lugs or the lugs for them there chrome plated and look better the 95-99 are hidden so who cares what they look like

I have the 95-99 gt's which the lugs will be hidden by the center cap, I'm more concerned with the seat taper on the lugs if it might be different than the ones for steelies. I haven't looked real close yet and the tires on the gt's need to be replaced before I do anything.
