My car has started to kinda stumble or skip when I have to stop and start off on a hill. Its a 97 LS auto with a 2.4. The check gauges light came on yesterday while it was doing it. After I got on a level road it went away and the light went off.
I tried searching but I didnt really know what I was looking for.
Any help is appricated.

Anyhow. The first thing Id check is the ignition, how old are the plugs? The Ignition on the 2.4's (i believe) is known to fail, but dont quote me on that.
Was the light blinking when this was happening? That would indicate a misfire, which I would relate the the plugs first.
Other things that may need checking are the fuel system, intake filter, the basics.
Hard to tell what might be the problem without more details, but thats what id do, in that order pretty much.
Id also get the computer scanned to see if theres any codes stored, which will help diagnose the problem

get used to it. Alot of us are having the same problem....................................
98z24, lowered 2", aem intake, cat-back striaght pipes!, cop ligths in the front and rear, 18" liquid metal's, primer black, tint, full audio and video.
i had a problem very similar to that awhile back, probably about a year or so now with my 04 and the plugs actually ended up being fouled so that would be the first thing i would check. And as stated have them grab the scanner and see where the code is coming from, will give you a better idea of what needs to be fixed.
