ok guys time to test how much you know. Went to trade the cav in today its a 2003. I was inside and they asked for my keys to test drive it.they come back bout five minutes later and say that i need a tune up. Well just had one and it runs fine so I dint think of it much. SO I go to leave and my damn car wont start. So I try for like seams like for ever and it still wont. I remember that I was a little low on gas so they put bout a gallon of gas into it. It was kinda ion a hill sol was thinking maybe gas was away from thhe pump? Still nothing? Well they where nice enought to tow my car home for me. Now it sits in the driveway and wont start. I am lost on this one. Fuel pumps cost like 250 bucks at shucks. There is that line that runs into the fuel rail. If you follow it back to the firewall there is a valve thingy (looks like the cap off of a tire) I took that off and pushed it and nothing came out. I drive a 2003 cav with the ecotec automatic. Thanks for some input.

So they put gas in your car, towed it home for you, and still you say 'fing dealership'? Sounds like a pretty nice place to me. I mean, what did you want them to do?
i noticed on my car i had to put at least 5 gallon can in it before the system would prime itself and run. don't forget in our tank there is a plastic piece to stop it from splasing around and running the pump dry. but when it is dry, it take a good bit of gas to surpase it to get gas back to the pump. so try at least 5 gallons to make sure thats not the issue. you can also buy/borrow a fuel pressure gauge and test the pressure up on/by the fuel rail to check proper pressure.

what would you do if was your car? Think they are nice? Runs fine one minute, next minute here we'll tow you? But we will take your car in on trade? Give you the same price? my gas light wasnt on and wasnt on empty so didnt think I could run out. anyone ever have time belt go out? I am really at a loss.
Had an Eco snap a timing chain at the dealer on start up once. It happens.

not on a third gen. CHAINS have snapped, its very rare, but happens. but you'd know, it wouldnt crank at all once it hit the valves.
again, do you hear the fuel pump prime? and what does the compression test show? how do the plugs look? are you getting spark?

Wrong, it will crank over very fast. Of the 4 Ecos that came into the dealer with snapped chains not one of them failed to turn over.

100% Correct. My buddies eco snapped the chain, and bent 12 of the 16 valves, and it cranked, and it was very fast. so, it could be the chain, but i would try the 5 gallons of gas and see if that works because i have heard of the cars funning out of gas and then needing alot of gas to get it going. if that dont help, there are a bunch of other things it could be. so get somone over there to look at the car and see what they say. i have seen ignition packs going out, Idle Air control solenoids going out, chains snapping, and all that fun stuff. and all that stuff will not let the car start. so IDK what it can be, but good luck!
Think I got it figured out. Put a new fuel filter in and still nothing. It was only 8 bucks so I did it. I was hoping for a cheap fix. Then Took the air box off and put gas in the throttle body. And poof it started right up. Ran for a second and then it died after that. So I'm not getting any gas. So fuel pump not working. Called the junk yard and they sell them used for 67 bucks plus 150 installed. I cant hear it prime, but live on a busy street, Just have to get it towed.
Have you checked the fuse and relay??? fuse $1, relay $12

And can you prove it was something they did? Sure, if it was my car I would be angry and maybe suspicious as to why it no longer ran, but for all you know it could just be something wrong with the car that would've gone wrong anyway. And assuming that, they didn't have to tow it.
That's all I'm saying. Good luck getting it fixed though.
