on my wifes 02 2.2 car there is a bad coolant leak. The leak is on the pass side of the engine, but when you go to see it, the whole bottom has the fluid dripping so i cant really see where it's at
I have spent the last few days trying to find where this leak is comming from. I believe that it is comming from the water pump area, but i can't see/feel the leak. There is nothing coming out of the weep hole on the water pump, so i'm thinking is leaking from the gasket. I have checked all the hoses on the car and they are fine. i'm about ready to just change out the water pump since it's never been replace and the car has 80K on it. and if the leak is still there then i go to???
Thanks in advance!!!
Im not sure on the 2.2, but on my 2.4 I have had a problem with the inlet pipe on the motor itself. There is a plastic piece that is a POS and it cracks and leaks pretty bad. Might be worth checking out.
check for rot leak on the lower coolant hose same location.
Thanks for the advice. I'll check out those places.
on the right side bottom bolt of water pump you can tell that is been wet there, but not when i'm looking.
Where is this inlet pipe for the motor? the only hose/pipe that i can SEE is on the drivers side and it looks fine,
the water pump is designed to leak when its going bad. thats the weep hole. its more than likely the water pump going bad
yes, the weep hole is under the pulley and cant be seen without the use of a mirror, but with the car off, feel the back side of the pulley, to see if there is gooey wetness. also check for a wet line following the belt sprayed onto the back of the rad and hood. This being flung from the pulley while coolant leaks there.
