So heres the swap idea
to take a 88' lebaron 2.2 turbo engine and swap it into a 97 chevy cavalier that has a 2.2l
Now I am not exactly positive i am going to do the swap but i do have a complete donor car for the swap and was wondering what gains i could get out of the swap as well as if anyone has done the swap or has a picture of the swap.
Thanks J body
thats gonna be a bitch to do. two diferent motors from two differnt mfgers. the only thing they have in common is at one time another they use getrag transimissions in them and i dont even know if its the same model.
The dodge 2.2 can be built to make 500 hp it would probaly cost about 10000 bucks to do. If you have a lebaron with the motor in it just build that up. Engine swaps for cavs are kind of limmited unless you know how to weld.
if you looking to mess around find a spare motor on ebay get a new fuel pump new injectors and distributor and get som nitrous
get a wet kit
I think the OP thinks that because both engines are 2.2L that they are interchangable......and if thats the case, no they arent. Anything can be done with enough time and money. I think you need to re-think this project though.

That sounds alot better then trying to fab the engine to make it fit. thanks quik
And for actully swapping the motor just because its a 2.2l I am a little more savy then that ... but with time and money any swap could be done.
My actully question thought would it be worth it, what kind of gains and such.....

This says it all lol.
Thanks carnivorous mouse that lets me know that its not worth it...
i would just spend the money building a trbo kit for the motor thats in it.
Well thats the plan for now if anyone has one they are willing to sell or wanting to get rid of now is the time lol
Thanks guys for the help and advise.

Don't let the punks get to you. If they can't say anything helpful its because they probably
have VERY LITTLE IF ANY MECHANICAL SKILLS . Talking crap is just their way of hiding that
fact. They figure the more crap they say the less likley anyone will know how dumb they are.
swap it into an 83 k convertyible even better i got just the car for ya
Buy an Omni/Horizon & swap the LeBaron's turbo 2.2 into that, then add MP's Super 60 turbo build-up kit. And while you're at it, get Mopar Performance Magazine's Tech Article CD-ROM. It'll tell you how to make a dead-reliable, corner-carvin', low-12s-runnin' machine outta it using mostly factory replacement parts. It'll be like a Shelby GLHS clone in plain-clothes!
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
hell nm just send me the 2.2 turbo lebaron and i'll put the motor in my k
