ive got a 97 cavalier 2.2 ohv 5 speed. i want to do a motor swap. i want power! what should i put in it? what will be the easiest? what will be the cheapest? not alot of time to put into it. its cold and i dont have a shop. my pockets are so shallow a penny has a good chance of falling out. (newborns are no way cheap!) i can get a 2.2 ecotec, a 3100, 3300, 3400, or a 3800. my choice of motors pretty much. ( its good to do side jobs for the owner of a junkyard!) so what do you guys think? i hear the 3400 would be the easiest route. im a welder/fabricator so the fabrication part is easy. need some tips on what to do. im tired seeing civics, crx, and integra ruling the track.
where are you located? i have a 3800 n/a motor i will sell with the harness and all
small town called Altavista, in virginia. can get a motor at no cost just trying to find out whats gonna be best, easiest and cheapest.
the wiring is the biggest task
is there any body out there that can put the hook ups on the harness for me? not exactely a elctrician.
The easiest swap would be a 2.4L w/ 5 speed (Isuzu) transmission from a 96-98 Cav or Fire.. just swap the engine, trans, PCM and engine bay harness... relearn the Passlock (as in the FAQ) and you're done.

this is true you would be much better off as far as time and skills go
