Im having issues with my air bag light coming on, I believe that it is because the Air bag module is talking to the n body ecm, The light doesnt come on all the time, like every 5th or 6th key cycle. The code is a miscommunication code. I dont remember the number. Any way I was wondering if anyone that has utilized the factory cluster on an 00+ swap has the same problem.
When it first happened I just figured that I had a loose wire some where but I have looked and looked again, the only connection i see is between the ecm and ABS module is the class 2 serial wire. I wonder If I have to get a GAM ABS module and rewire the cav plug to the gam module.
Any one had this problem?

Maybe related... when I swapped to a 03 Eco in the 98 Z24... I had an airbag light, but everything was plugged in correctly. The dealership's Tech 2 said it was an 'option configuration error' so I re-configured the SDM module... and it worked fine, cleared the light and I have no codes now.
I have an Airbag light on the 'vert at the moment... and I haven't tried this with my L67 swapped car... but I'm using the J-body SDM with all J-body airbag parts... hoping that it will talk to the Park Ave ECM and BCM, and that I don't have to go get me a Park Ave SDM as well - they had more airbags, which I won't be installing in the Cav!!!

I'm not sure. My Air Bag light is on all the time, but at the same time, I've never plugged them back in.
I don't even have the swap and mine is on constantly. I don't think they even work on mine, especially considering they didn't go off when I had go side-swiped on the front end. oh well, the bulb is coming out tonight either way.
Hmmm. Lenko You said that you had to reconfigure the SDM, what exactly do you mean by that. Is it programmed like the ecm with the vin and stuff? Maybe I could have it reflashed with tthe gam vin thats in the ecm.
Im going to start looking up the air bag wiring and see if I can swap the modules for now. If any one knows about a reflash on the SDM let me know. Thanks.

I just got done looking up the wiring diagrams, they appear to be very similar, same amount of pins same locations, visually they look the same but different part and service numbers. The large difference is that the grand am module doesnt have a sensor on the radiator support and doesnt have a seatbelt sensor. sensor must just be internally. So my theory is to get my fingers on an 01 grand am module, unplug the bags, check the status with my scanner, then plug in the bags . Cross my fingers that I dont end up with a different code. Gonna call around tomorrow for a used one.

You use the GM Tech 2 diagnostic tool and "reflash" the SDM to be in sync with the BCM.. it's hard to describe without one in front of me. I know it's somewhere in the airbag system menu. I could look it up in the GM service manual and see if I can find it... but if you have the Tech 2 in front of you, it's pretty easy to find.
If you don't have access to a dealership's Tech 2 like I (sometimes) do... then there's no way to do this.
there is a local small dealership that we pull frames for and send any ecm reflashes and other dealer only jobs. They are the guys that tried to keep reflashing my ecm wih lot car vins to see what made the gas gauge work. The problem is theres like only 1 tech that knows a little , he does what the computer tells him when reflashing ecm's so Im not sure He knows much about what the computer doesnt tell him from the GM download. It appears that either way I have to pay $50 to attempt either a reflash thing or a gam module swap. I may call them and see what they will tell me over the phone first.

hows this work for an 99 sinc ei don't have a BCM

I'm guessing it should be seperate. Or on it's own system. I don't even know where the wiring for the air bags run to. (from the sensor to the module). It doesn't appear to run through the C100 connector.
In all fairness. If the light is on due to some sort of communications error I would think that beings that the airbags are a safety feature that there should be some sort of failsafe for it. We all know the module is under the seat. Even with some communications error if you wreck the car, I would think that the bags should still go off regardless of what the BCM says. Depending on how you get in an accident anyways, you could lose communications or even your battery, but your bags are supposed to still blow.
Unfortunately, there's no real way to test it.
anyone car to test i'm not i got a brand new windshield i don't want the passenger bag to break it
