because 99.5- (i think) had the egr, but the system was removed halway through the year. so, when you order the header, you need to oreder it for the proper situation (pre 99 for with egr, 2000+ for with no egr). i'm not a quad guy though, so maybe one of those knuckleheads could answer your question better.

i would look for cavalier cause the frame dimensions and inner fender wells maybe diff from the grandam and this is how they determine the angles and bends to the car fit, not the motor . hope this helps later mastertech66

pay close attention how the exhaust flexes after the exhaust header, such as an exhaust donut or flex pipe. The older cavs used a donut for the joint after the manifold and the newer ones used a flex pipe under the engine with a rigid mount manifold flange. Those flex pipe mounted ones have a clamp that bolts the front of the flex joint to the u shaped bracket that the dog bone is bolted to.
As far as the 2 or 4 door exhaust, I believe the floor pans are the same because a 2 door and 4 door carpet are interchangeable. Which would lead me to believe that the exhaust would be the same after the converter. Check a parts store and see if thy have the came #'s to be 100%.

You want to get a Cavalier header. You also want to make sure of your EGR situation before you purchase said header. You can check for the EGR yourself. Start by popping the hood. Look for the word CAM in the engine IDI cover. "2.4 TWIN CAM" There should be a black bracket connected by 2 bolts that are located directly under the C and M. Remove the 2 nuts from the bolts and pull the big black air box back just far enough that you can see under it with a flashlight. If you have an EGR, it will be located below the M. The EGR is a small black cylinder with a plug on top. This cylinder is sitting on top of a silver housing. If you have this EGR, you will want to order the header for 96-98 Cavalier 2.4. If no EGR, then order 99-02 Cavalier 2.4. Now I'm no expert, but I do understand this topic. As said above, length of exhaust should be the same, but I'm not 100%. Hope this helps. Any other questions just post here or shoot me a pm and I will do my best to help you out.
