97 cavalier 2.2L water pump issue i think?

1st off i have searched so calm down lol

hey guys i'm having a problem with my cavalier 2.2L, now i've been having issues the past couple days with it looseing coolant, and i came across my water pump looking like this

new waterpump in there...

now i thought that my water pump was dead..so i replaced it, i cleaned the gasket area, put on a new gasket etc, but now it's loosing a lot more coolant then normal, like it's "pissing" out of the bottom of the new pump it seems...

it also makes a weird noise when i start it up,not sure if it would be a cracked head, as with the old pump in there it wasn't pissing out a lot of fluid like it's doing now, but it was also making the same weird noise on start up...also by searching i've noticed this is the general area where the fluid is coming from after i put the new pump in...

sounds to me like the gasket surface wasn't cleaned properly. or your car is pissing on you. either way, check the bottom of the pump to see if its wet, check the hoses for a pin hole/pinch. check the water outlet (thermostat housing) for cracks.

looks like you may have put the new pump in upside down. You can see the weep hole in the first pic (old pump) is on the top, and I dont see it on the second pic (new pump). I would check the position of the new pump and go from there. Also what did you use to clean the gasket surface before installing the new pump?

Another thing you need to do is to make sure you bleed out the cooling system after you fill it back up.

well i got her fixed....guess there was a puddle of old coolant sitting around somewhere in my engine bay, only thing i can think of....bled the system, everything is working fine now...and no more leaky water pump
