i'm new to this... i drive a 2001 cav with 2200 auto. i took it to auto zone because my "check engine" light turned on along with the "trac off'. the guy said it was my car' connection that wasn't working right. idk what options i have. any help would really be appreciated.
thanks... the fuse was blown. i'll go back and bug the guy.
it worked. now i have two codes to fix.po128- thermostat operating temp and po113-intake air temp circuit. what steps should i take to troubleshoot each one?
change the thermostat, clear the codes and wait ad see if it comes back on. It may be possible the thermostat is causing a IAT sensor code. I dont recall changing an IAT sensor either.
Anyway, do the thermostat, and let us know. Now dont go out and get the cheapest thermostat . expect to pay around 10-11 dollars for one, dont buy the 6-7 dollar one. And look for a Stant name brand. The cheap ones are junk, lucky to get a month out of them.

How does a thermostat affect the Intake air temp sensor? By the way nice job on the swap in your car, bet she runs good.
It shouldn't really. Asides from the engine being cooler and the air charge being a bit cooler maybe.
Though, I do have to disagree. I'd have to go with the IAT sensor. These cars are real bad at the IAT sensor causing the TC to go out and the transmission to shift hard. We learn this from all the kiddies that put intakes on thier car and never put the sensor into the new intake.
where would the iat sensor be located? i know im a noob. maybe its that because my transmission started to shift really hard during accelaration and harder whenever i shifted to D. another quick question... to do the 3400 swap do i need both my harness and the one that the engine is coming from? say coming from a 00+ grand am
