3100 in 95 vert.

Finally. after 4 years.. its running.. lol ok so it only really took 120 ish hours of labour.. but anyhow..
got some questions.. ( ill post pics later its filthy rite now lol )

anyone notice the Fuel guage doenst register a full tank when its full? not sure why it just doenst.
We kept the Automatic with the 3100, and the light on the dash.. takes forever to switch from park to drive to neutral etc... almost like its not sure if it wants to move.. but it does..

The engine never seems to get warm enough to blow out HOT air.. maybe cuz its like -30C here.. but the rad fan never kicks in either.. and the car never overheats or steps past 90C.

And.. any ideas other than to send the PCM away, or buy hp tuners to remove the AC and ABC / trac control
so it doenst keep throwing codes... how to disable them?

- biggest annoyance. is the horn.. not sure why but it just doenst work and the resister pack needs replacement for the blower.. lol so minor @!#$ but meh.

New alternator is needed. simple.
other than that.. it sounds mean like a big v8 lol

The fuel sender doesn't go through the ECM in a 95, so I'm not sure why that is, but I know it's been determined that without all the signals going to the cluster, some gauges tend to be bouncy, so maybe there's something there.

For the other issues, post up what ECM you're using.

It's not that the ECM has something to do with it, but that the cluster circuit goes a little crazy when it' missing some things.

Using a 97 Ecm
The fuel guage thing kinda fixed itself.. it goes to full now.. but after 2 mins it drops to 3/4 of a tank.. meh its been sitting for a while bound to be issues i suppose.
starting to notice alot of ticking on cold starts.. lasts a good 5-10 mins.

its the level sensor on the intake sender

95-99 theres a purplewire from the level sensor to the cluster that feeds the gauge. doin the swap the fuel level should work 100% if it doesn't theres an issue in the tank

did your PCM come from a 97 N body if so you shouldn't have any gauge issues as the 95-98 grand ams are basicly a large J body most stuff inerchanges with them

JBO since July 30, 2001

Most of everything on the guage works.. just not the fuel guage but that could be ofcourse other issues..
and the indicator light of which gear im currently in..
Turn car on, it shows park.
shift to drive.. wait 20 secs it will move to drive.
move back to park. it will not move back until you turn off car and back on.
it does however know the difference from neutral and drive..
but thats about it.. its hardly a concern.

Just have to find my cruise control module for the 3100 and hook that back up... thought i could live without it.. lol not a chance.
