He didn't finish it. He went to the 3800 he's currently building instead. While his current swap is nice, I would have liked to see the Shortstar finished.
I almost scored a Saab 2800 Turbo over the summer, and I was very tempted, just because it's a cool engine, but that would have been an electronic mess, and my car has been off the road long enough.
Damn... i'd love to score one of those. Electronic nightmare aint @!#$ to me.

Well after my car is done, I might still try to find another one, but at this point, I really just want the car painted and back on the road. LOL.
In case you're not familiar with that engine, it's a 2.8 DOHC Turbo with VVT. Lots of potential there, but tuning isn't available yet that can handle the new 60 Degree engines. I hope they crack it soon.

They are reliable as long as you follow the service schedule. Personally I wouldn't bother with a 3.4L X motor as there are more practical options.
meh ive done the 3800 once and want to try some new ideas this time around make it look cleaner and a manual trans will be great

Pfff... better off with a 4 cyl turbo. 250hp out of a v6 turbo!! haaha
is that the saab 9-3 V6 engine
the 3.4 dohc isn't worth it cause there more aftermarket for the 3800 and you can make way more power and reiably out of a 3800 then a 3.4 dohc

im workin on getin my 3500 goin ill let every u guy know how that turn out but i looked into the short star a little and the hp numbers wernt much higher than th 60 degree motors and mounting it would be another problem but the idea of a quad cam is still awsome.
that would be a good swap then
