Difference 95-96 engines????

A friend of mine has a 96 2.2 out of a s-10 told me I can have it , would that engine exchange into my 95 cav with a 2.2?? thinking of rebuilding it since mine is pushing 175.000 mi. just for a spare Thanks

Theres a difference with the engines from fwd vs. rwd. Can't remember exactly what is different but you have to change or modify something, otherwise should be a direct swap.

I no the block should have the holes for changing motor mounts but the rest I am unsure about before I tell him I'll take it

i think you can use it might have to change little stuff like the rad hose spouts on the engine and maybe the intake manifold but i don't know for sure

i do know the 96 has a cam position sensor and your 95 does not but that wont matter as your 95 PCM wont look for it
