To start off, I'm not an expert at exhaust things. My friend has a Cherry Bomb Turbo muffler that is just sitting around and collecting dust. The muffler has a 2.5" inlet, my '04 Cavalier is stock, motor and tranny and what not. My question is, if I put that Cherry Bomb Turbo muffler on my car will it cause a problem with back pressure and what not? Is it going to harm my engine in any way or will it be safe to use that muffler? Thanks in advance!
It shouldnt harm anything, but that muffler sounds horrible. My buddy has that muffler on his 03 sunfire. I heard his and went on ebay and bough a magnaflow oval muffler with 2.25 inlet and outlet. I also have a 03 sunfire and im very happy with the muffler. Its louder than stock but not real loud, a nice deep tone. It has no interior noise, you can barely hear it with the windows up. I would definetly go with magnaflow over cherrybomb.
thanks for the help guys. i just had to make sure no harm would be done. i saw the vid on youtube of someone with the cherry bomb turbo muffler on an eco and it didn't sound too bad. since i'm just rolling stock exhaust and short on cash i'm just itching to get atleast something over a stock sound on it, it's been 3 years and can't take it anymore lol.
don't do just the cherry bomb, they sound bad by themselves as already posted. IMO, I would put a magnaflow on it.
Dont even bother with the cherrybomb its a waste of time. If you have had a stock muffler this long wait a bit longer and save up for a magnaflow. You will be happier in the end.
as i put more thought into this instead of jumping in head first and doing it, i think i'm probably just going to wait it out, because like you said, if i've waited this long, waiting longer won't be that hard.
I dont have a sound clip. I dont have the part number but its 5"X18" long body, 2.25" inlet an outlet. One side is centered and the other side is off set. And yes you could use the same muffler for each side. You will need to fab up a hanger though.
