Having a problem with yhe new project. i got it all put back together all my wires run and now trying to crank it and it wont turn over. replaced the starter and still, no dice. the solenoid is kicking in but the starter just cant roll it over. with the car in gear the crank spins when i rock it back and forth. im going to try and push start it 2morro tho.... till then any ideas? im wondering if for some dmbass reason it cold have something to do with the ignition being f*ked up but i doubt it. motor is a 2200 OHV. it was boght torn apart (never doing that again) but i finished tearing it down and re-fixed what the other guy couldnt. anyhow, if yo have any ideas feel free to chime in. thanks Ryan
In my j-body the key wont turn the starter so i had to wire up a push button and it worked. if it is a stick couldnt it be the clutch safety switch? I am not sure, wait for someone else to chime in.

How many volts are in the battery? What does the voltage drop to while your cranking?

Battery has full power, even tried it on the charger. It is a stick, not sure about the nuetral saftey switch.
ok its now rolling but not starting. Has fuel, spark, and compression. Im getting backfire out the intake and exhaust but its just not starting
this may sound stupid but is the firing order right?

yeah it is. I replaced the icm and coil packs and its still not starting. i checked if maybe my lifters werent primed and maybe a valve wasnt opening but they are all opening and closing. I do have 2 dry exhaust lifters tho but the valves still open. Im going to check into it but i dont think thats what is keeping it from starting
Have you tried "clear flood mode" yet?

never even heard of that. im searching it now.... and my lifters are primed now. im getting it to almost start but it just doesnt wanna start! im getting frustrated.
Hold the gas peddle all the way down(WOT) and try starting the car. It turns off the injectors to allow excess fuel to leave the cylinders.
It has worked for me on a few no-starts and the battery wasnt the issue.

well i figured out what the hell it was. Damnedest thing. When i first put it all together i just robbed the sparkplugs out of my 95 cav. Not thinking they were diferent, but they are totally diferent. Put in the correct plugs and shes running now.... I just cant believe that such a silly thing would hold it up lol
