I've searched and searched and can't find the answer i'm looking for. On an 02 cavalier with an auto trans, can you pull the engine out the top while leaving the trans in the car. I'm not sure if it's the single ohc or the dohc if it makes a difference. I've done a couple with manual trans but not an auto. Any info would be appreciated.
You can, but it's about a million times less effort if you just take the tranny out with it, and bolt it to the new motor while it's out.

i dont meen to sound rude, but if you cant tell the difference between the ohv and the dohc, should you really be pulling an engine??
horsepower is the force that determines at what speed you hit the wall, torque is the force that determines how far you take the wall with you after you hit it.
shooff thanks for the info
02 silver cavy I don't own the car. That's why i don't know what engine is in it. It's for sale with a blown engine. I'm thinking about buying it, swapping and reselling. i've swapped several 2.4's but not an ecotec.
The ecotec would be a dohc.
