Hi,
I tried searching and didn't find anything similar to this. I have a 96 base coupe w/automatic. I live in Chicago and we had major rain yesterday. My street was completely underwater, it was almost up to the doorsills. Please note: water did not get in the passenger compartment. I moved the car to higher ground and noticed both lights are staying on. I drove it today and more of the same. I do wear my seatbelt. For the hell of it, I buckled the passenger side belt and the light stays on. The other thing I noticed is when starting the car, the airbag light does not flash, it just stays on continuously.
Does anyone know what's wrong with my car? Is it safe to drive with the airbag light on?
Any info MUCH appreciated!
Update:
Now airbag light is flashing when started but still staying on. Seatbelt light is off. I'm hoping whatever got wet is drying out, will the airbag light have to be reset?
Chances are the airbag module under the passenger seat got wet. You might want to take that into a dealer - there was a recall recently about that same issue, and the fact they can deploy at highway speeds with no warning....
