OK maybe not a quick problem. but Possibly one that has been answered. The Tension pulley that tensions the Alternator and A/c on my 97 z24 is needing to be replaced badly. I have the pulley but I can't for the life of me figure out how the damn thing comes off. Does the whole assembly have to come out or what? None of the other guides that i have found look even close to my engine. Every time i ask some one the automatically assume its the 2.2L its not, its the original 2.4L Twin cam or whatever its called for my year. I can turn a wrench and for the most part i have rebuilt most of the car myself but when it comes to that motor i am clueless. Its been a great car still gets great mileage but just watching the engine run you can see and clearly hear that the pulley is bad. I would hate to scrap it just over a freaking pulley.
the pully comes off with a simple turn of a bolt.(opposite turn of relieving the tension) if the tensioner is bad the pully alone will not fix it.
you might have to take tensioner off so you can get the pully off being that its pressed on.(just maybe depends on how tricky you are with tools) if i was you i'd replace the whole tensioner.
Its just the pulley, the tensioner checks out. I appreciate the help it was driving crazy. So its just a revers tread bolt....now i feel really stupid.
