How much oil does the ac compressor hold? Thanks

It shouldn't have that much in it at all. If it's got a bunch in there, it means someone pumped way more into it than it needed when they charged it. That line should mostly have gas in it when you open it, with just a little oil puddling in the openings and lines.

I am replacing compressors and I was wondering how much to put in. one place I read said 2oz and another said 8oz. I wasn't sure. Thanks

According to Alldata it's 3 oz. if you just did a compressor swap. If you replaced the dryer as well (recommended) you are supposed to put in an additional 3 oz. Total system capacity should be 9 oz.

I drained the entire system and swapped compressors., so do I need 3 of 9? Thanks

If you unhooked the dryer and drained that, go with 6 oz. Otherwise, stick with the 3 oz.

The lines, condenser coil, and evap coil all will still have some oil in them, so you don't ever need to put the full 9 oz. in unless you've replaced every component.
