v6/evap question
Tuesday, January 12, 2010 1:03 PM
Ok im doing a 3100 in my 98 cav, and I have a complete 99 grand am for parts. My question is right now i have the tanks down on them both to swap everything and i am wondering about the evap system specifically if I should use all the grand am cav evap? Both of these two gas tanks look identical except for the evap stuff, and my cav tank has some rust in it so i figured i could use the grand am tank, pump, but evap? it looks like i would have to swap the entire evap line from the tank to the engine bay? Sorry probably a stupid question but i'm no master tech just a 21 year old with a little free time and a lot of hope! Im trying damn it lol. Thanks

The evap system should be the same on those. Unless the GA is a California vehicle and your Cav isn't, and even then I don't know that the California vehicles have different evaps, just thought it might explain the difference. On mine, I just ran the tubes to the purge solenoid on the V6 just like the factory ones from the 2.2 were. I didn't touch the gas tank during my swap.

Thanks guys. I forgot to mention that I am using a grand am dash and all the wiring from it yea i know it was over kill but it seemed like the easiest way. I think im just gonna delete it all together i read a little about it on an ls1 forum.
