what is everyone doing on weight reduction for our cars??
buy a vert. much much lighter haha. jk
lol, lose a/c, lose power steering(both of which i think you've already done if i remember correctly), lose spare tire/jack, lose back seat, lose sound deadening material. other than that to keep the car looking anywhere close to halfway decent not a whole lot. lighter rims, and carbon fiber parts help, but really unless you wanna start stripping the car anything else you remove is gonna make it look like @!#$.
Ive heard of using a hole saw to swiss cheese some parts of the car. Idk if Id do it but ya..........
airbag removal? and replacing the now ghetto looking steering wheel with a nice one.

Stupid Idea!!!
Never ever ever, ever, ever remove your SRS system. Not only is it stupid to think that if you remove the 10 or so lbs that your SRS weights that you will gain some power to weight ratio, but its illegal to alter any of those items.
And that ghetto steering wheel WILL save your life if anything was to happen.
Sorry I don't like to yell at anyone for there ideas and/or imput but
BAD BAD!!!

well some people are willing to take that risk, and it depends where your located wether you need your airbag system or not, up where i live i could go rip out my air bags right now and the car would pass a safety inspection with flying colors
Its the same way here, its only illegal if you get caught while you're going it. having no airbags is not illegal, just removing them is, and of course if you happen to not have them theres no way they could prove how they disappeared.

exactly, for all they know you could've bought the car that way
I used to work in the auto body field for awhile...and from what I understood, it is not illegal to remove the air bags, UNLESS you sell it...it is illegal to sell a car that came equipped with air bags to someone without them in there, the person who bought it from you, if they got in a wreck, could actually sue you....
Anyway....as far as weight reduction, it also depends on if your up for no interior, or what.....on mine, i removed air bags, "swiss cheesed" the metal impact bars behind the bumper cover, removed the plastic crap on it, took the factory sound deadening crap out, spare tire and all trunk carpet, ect. gone, antenna gone and a few other things....or coarse I made up for most of it with the weight of the system, body kit, air ride, glassed dash, ect. that went in lol

you said it your self, SRS, suplimenty restraint system, key word being suplimentry, its not illegal to remove it.
pfft air bags are gay remove them tell the manufacture to build a stonger body we never had them in the 80s but also had full framed cars ou there. could hit a brick wall and walk away.
removing the blue paint from your wheels will also help that added weight isn't needed

remove the bumpers, hood, doors, quarter pannels, trunk, seats, dash, rear brakes, exhaust, mirrors, windshield (keep the rear window for safety purposes), lights, carpeting. you know, the usual BS

how was this in any way helpful?
just thought it'd be funny. cant the .org have a little humor?
Interior, don't need that @!#$ anyways.
What it looks like....
The parts that didn't make it back in...
Also pulled the rear bumper, just have the cover/foam on there now. That son of a bitch was heavy! And its right at the back of the car, exactly where you don't want the weight.
dont you know those seat belts are holding you down, take those SOBs off
NHRA has some stupid rule that you have to be wearing a seatbelt to race, I dunno why, I mean, I have airbags so thats good enough right?
Also, passenger seat is only in there because I put it back in cause my buddy was coming racing...usually thats not in there.
next thing you know their gonna require helmets
only at 13.99 and faster.
helmets are mandatory no matter what out here. . . . also, some areas, air bags are required through insurance. with me, I told the company that I do not feel safe with them in, put my rate a tiny bit higher, but it doesn't bother me at all. I've seen, and felt, more damage from the air bag over the steering wheel. at least with the wheel, I can brace myself a bit better and not have my glasses blown into my skull.

obviously didnt catch the sarcasm

i think he was just referring to newt's post that in some area's helmets are required for any type of racing regardless of how fast.
