Engine fitment
Wednesday, March 31, 2010 7:15 AM
So, I just recently bought a 2.2 eco engine, and need a few other things. I know what I need, and I know how to do the swap, my question is, will a 2.2 eco from an 03-04 fit a base 01?

I read that, and posted there

I just wasn't sure, The guy at the junkyard told me not to buy it cause it wouldn't fit my car, and so did a few other people. I assumed if I got all the pieces I needed it would fit. I just wanted to make sure.

Probably said this because this is not the motor your exact car came with soo no its not exactly a "direct replacement".. you need the engine harness/trans/etc... but the 00-02 the engine harness connects right to the interior harness... I posted that link, because that should clarify that, that is what needs to happen for any 00-02 J, specifically when yanking out an LN2 as well... aka your base model has an LN2.

u didnt get the lower mount on the motor? the dog bone is the same i just did my a eco swap in my 00. you def need a upper motormount for the eco. oh since u are getting a diff harness then the one the motor came with be carefull and double check the chank postion sensor plugs match. they are soo close not even funny. that kept me from starting up since some one changed the plug on the new harness i needed and the old one had to be swapped in.
