let me first state yes i searched

Here is my Issue.

I recently purchases a 97 cavy with the 2.2. The previous owner explained that the engine was rebuild about 20k ago. He gave me all documentation on the said vehicle include receipts for purchased parts one being a new clutch and slave cylinder. So they are not original.
For me to get the clutch to disengage i have to basically put my foot threw the damn for or else i am grinding gears. Now i have replaced the master cylinder and have bleed the line many times but it is still the same. I have no fluid loss whatsoever. i have checked the line and have no cracks. So any ideas? I am thinking the slave is toast.

sounds alot like there is way too much freeplay on the pedal, this could EASILY cause your issue

Bad slave cylinder. Or the clutch is bad too. Might as well just change the whole thing with a clutch kit.

Don't believe it even if it has documentation. Friend of mine's parents bought a 98 sunfire off this kid. He said it had a bad transmission so he sold it for 200 bucks. He said the tranny was bad because he just had the clutch changed less than 1000 miles before, and it stopped moving again. Problem was, it would go into gears easy, and seemed to work fine. Got to digging into it and found no lining on the clutch.

Just because it has a "new" clutch, doesn't mean it was done right (could have just changed the disc to be cheap). Or that the previous owner knew how to drive worth a @!#$.

i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
