I bought this tranny for cheap , only 11k on it for $100, the only problem was this cracked side pan, it's only about an inch long and not very deep. I was just curious as to if I could possibly by a sealer and seal it up or spend the money and get a new pan. Here's some pics of it, excuse the crappy image, they were taken with the crackberry.

nothing a little quicksteel cant fix
I doubt you will get a weld to stick to a case like that given its been soaking in trans fluid for its short life.... More than likely its impregnated the aluminum. If thats the case, a regular TIG weld wont stick, Quicksteel sure as heck is not going to stick, or any other adhesive for that matter.
I would start looking for a new side cover... Looks like a CV shaft replacement injury anyway...in which case those splines on the output shaft are probably muddied up too.

you could have that welded without any issues if the person welding it knows what there doin a good welder can make it work

Is it a 3 speed or a 4 speed? I have a spare side cover for a 4 speed sitting here. I'll let it go for next to nothing.
Its a auto not a manual. I'm going to make it into a manual just not anytime soon

You mean 3 speed. Not 2 speed. If theres not any vacuum connections then its a 4 speed.
