Gutting the MAF

Been doing some reading about taking the screen out of the MAF and or taking it apart and grinding out the air foils on either side. Im thinking about getting another MAF from a junk yard and trying it. What are you thoughts? It would def increase air flow.

Honestly, I'd just look at getting one from an LS1 or something. I know there are a lot of guys that swap in the V8 MAF units when hopping up their V6.

I have read about swapping to an LS1 MAF and I guess you have to put the LS1 MAF table into the 3400s MAF table with HPT. I used to have an LS1 file on my computer for HPT but I cant find it anymore. If I remember correctly the LS1 MAF table is bigger than the 3400s. Like theres more blocks of frequencies.

Check out what the guys on 60degreeV6.com are doing. I'm pretty sure a lot of them have done it, so they can probably tell you. I am not even close to that point with my car, so I haven't really paid much attention to the tuning threads there. My 3400 is sitting on the stand awaiting it's build. The 3100 in the car is getting a couple of minor upgrades, but that's it.

I decided to try gutting it myself, got an old one and took it apart and cut out the air foils... The gain was minimal, but it was worth the experiment.

Heh....... 3400 + No MAF = win. I'm so glad I don't have one.

i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
