I am in the process of trying to find a boot(cover) for my vert when top is down. I found
This it says 1990's. I know the was the second gen and third gen, but would the boots be the same? I only ask because it is either this or making my own from vinyl.
Also if someone could post measurements of the boot, where the snaps are in relation etc that would be greatly appreciated. I am not susie homemaker, but i think i could figure this out.

no measurements for you, as my boots were stolen while in storage...however im pretty sure thats a 2nd gen. not the best pic but it def didnt look like the 00 1 piece boot that i had and that was the only year a 1 piece was made for 3rd gens. couldnt say if it would work though. im guessing not, but im sure there are a few rarer pieces that have interchanges that no one has thought to try yet. but for those ebay prices ($40 for shipping???) id def pass it up.
That's the second gen boot.. won't fit a third gen (I've tried it already). The giveaway is the color - the third gens didn't come in black, only dark gray (graphite).. and the other colours, of course...
you have to have a 95-00 boot. the side pieces are interchangable thru those model years, theres a one piece available as well but have never seen it in real life. Black ones seem to be the most expensive, i picked up a set of tan ones and painted them black with viynl paint from the parts store.
heres a pic of my 1 piece 3rd gen boot. available in 00 only, i believe. like spencer, i used auto vinyl dye on it, as it was originally tan also. it was sold a few years ago to a .org member when i was in between verts. the rest of the 3rd gens come with the two side pieces and a middle piece. the side pieces (on all styles) have molded plastic under the vinyl to keep them from getting all flat and looking like the one in the link you posted. i tried to strip the vinyl from the plastic on my last, stolen, set but it was on there very good so unless you have lots of time to mess with it, dyeing it would be the simplest way to do it.
you can see the similarities in its style and the 2nd gen, but like john said black wasnt an option and also the stitching is different with the 2nd gen having a / \ style versus the 3rd gen's l l on the front of the sides. and finally when looking at it the 2nd gens are usually flat but the 3rd gens shouldnt be since they have the plastic for shape support. i was too tired last night after doing my
HOW TO write up on top installation to be able to think of all of those things. lol. but when looking at it during the day, yeah, its def an auction for a 2nd gen boot.
i just got one of those boots and it wont fit my car!
You got a second gen boot? Or a one-piece (2000 model year) boot?
This for the 95 listed in your profile?
