im working on droping in a 3100 in my cavalier and wanted to see what Radiator eveyone used and works best with swap
also what Radiator hoses are u all useing
use a j body rad but if you have a single core rad swap it to the double core rad, its a little thicker hold and cools more coolantno idea what hosesthere using but i bet its either what ever J body hose you have or the 3100 hoses this kinda thing you can do on your own with out us because if you have the engine in just test fit it trim them if need be its not hard

Really? I didn't know there was a difference in the radiators. I have the single core, didn't even know you could get a double core radiator.
Hoses, I believe my lower is stock and the upper is from a 99 Grand am. Or maybe it's the other way around. Been a while since I put it in.

what cars came with the dual core radiator?
for a lower im using one from a malibu and a upper from a 99+grand am with the cav radiator. but im swappin to a beretta hoses and cheapo aluminum radiator. had to make the mounts custom tho.
I use the stock radiator with no problems. I do notice on hot days idleing, it does tend to heat up in the 220-230 range. I didnt even know that there was a double core. My stock hoses fit right up just a little trimming is all thats needed.
3400 SWAP DONE. 187WHP 212TQ (14.2 @100MPH NA) 240WHP 310TQ (N2O)
eco rad wont work as the ports are in different locations if you use a j body rad OTHER then an eco rad you should have way less work
as for cause that came with them i don't know GM has an option thats added to our cars that gets or some reason for it cause i have seen bas models with the double core and loadeds with the single auto/ 5spd no idea theres no set car that has them i have seen Z24 with both
single is like 1/2 think and a double core is about 1" think

Hmm.... that's nice and consistent. Typical GM style. If i'd have to guess I'd look for something with a 4spd auto, since supposedly you can tow with that combo. Hard tellin.

I used the stock upper, lower rad hoses and heater hoses from my 96 2.2 and they work fine.

I might have to look at mine tomorrow.
I have a 99 z24, came stock with the thin radiator. I was able to pick up a new 2 core from a local guy that got it off ebay.
"Oil Leak ? What oil Leak ? Oh, Thats Just The Sweat From All The HorsePower!!"

I am using a honda dual core "half" radiator...works great so far, will be able to tell better once I get a fan on it and the car gets tuned
why would you use such a small rad when a j body rad is bolt in on a j body
