I've got a 1997 Sunfire with the 2.4L DOHC engine that is blown. I am looking for a replacement and have found one out of a 2001, but the guy selling it says it won't work with the 1997. Which seems odd, I realize the electronics changed drastically in 2000, but is there any reason I couldn't simply swap the engines. The water pump blew on the old engine, and it overheated, the head warped or cracked, but I have everything, wiring harness, the whole nine yards. I haven't even finished pulling it yet. So what do you think?
I think EGR is the main issue on this one. I'm sure someone will jump on here and chime in with the way to work around it. Or you could hit up the search button a little bit.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
I think the crank sensor is different too. But I know this can be done...
