I have a 95 cavalier, went to hook my scanner up to it would'nt read it come to find out I have a obd 1 cpu with a obd 2 hookup does anyone no how to read a code with a scanner? my scanner reads 1 & 2 codes its a craftsman thanks
did it power up the scanner when you plugged it in? or did nothing happen? if it's getting power, but not connecting, chances are you're going to need a better scan tool.

Well, on my obd 1 connector for my snap-on MT2500 I have to plug in a cable to it and run it to the battery. The obd ii does not need the cable. Hope that helps.
I don't know about the cavaliers, but I had a 1991 Oldsmobile that I could jump the diag port with a paper clip and the MIL would flash the codes to me.

It's because it's a 95.
OBD 1.5 = have fun getting the codes off of it.

yeah it depends what scanner you use, my sunfire wont read with the cheaper actron one like your find auto zone and what not, but the code scout I have at Oreilly will read it no problem.
