just wondering if the 50miles applied here.... thanks
That really depends on quite a few things more than your needle pointing at roughly 1/8 tank.
A lot of j-bodies like to have an inaccurate as hell fuel guage, and a good sized handful won't make it 50 miles from 1/4 in the best of conditions. So I say, no. You could try it and find out.

lol if it wasnt 0 degrees i would def try it, thanks for the heads up, gas station then home.
Well I decided to take a chace. Went 40miles at 71mh I made it woohooo
mIne goes completely empty at 1/4 tank lol.
I wouldn't ever run a chevy below a 1/4 tank anyway, so I have no idea.
But, I like my current fuel pump. I don't want to have to replace it.
Just go buy gas you douche
How far are you willing to push?

Well I feel like an idiot, now that I read the rest of the thread.

Same here, usually just a bit under 1/4 though
My 05 is fairly accurate. My 98 is needs to be filled when I hit the orange section. The girlfriends 03 vibe can drive for days with the low fuel light on tho lol. When it starts to sputter on take off its time for a fill up.
lol i felt like kramer in seinfeld!
I still have about 45 miles at E, lol
Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.
ive gone 300 miles on empty.
If it takes forever.... I will die trying. Underdog Racing
these cars are a 14gal tank right, when i filled up on E i pumped 12 gal hmmm
03+ have a 14 gallon, 95-02 have a 15 gallon tank.

so i had 2 more gallons, ughhh screw my check gauges light!!
ive run out of gas at 1/8 tank reading on the gage (as my dash calls it)

Heh, I did 280 on E in my Trailblazer several times. One new fuel pump later and hopefully it won't do it again.

Was ur fuel guage broken lol
You guy's poor fuel pumps. You do know that in tank fuel pumps are cooled by the fuel and when you run under about 1/4 of a tank the pump isn't getting cooled properly and will over heat.

Yup, that's why the fuel pump is in a basket. And there's a venturi pump on the bottom of the basket, which keeps said basket full at all times. The venturi pump is able to suck almost every last drop from that tank too. Running under 1/4 tank does not effect the cooling because the pump is still submerged.
Running out of gas is how you overheat/burn up your fuel pump.

^ True 'nuff.
Many mechanics I've talked to have never actually seen evidence of the fuel pump being killed faster if you let it run low.. unless you're actually letting it run dry. I killed mine once coming into a gas station, bone dry. Filled it right up, but the pump was already dead
wouldn't start.
My old Cav... I never let it go below half a tank (seriously!) and the fuel pump still died at 120,xxx kms. My DD (03 Cav) gets used to the gas light every time, but it's made it to 270,xxx kms without a problem.
