my friend rolled his redline over and the motor & tranny are ok, does anyone know if i can put it in a 2000 to 05 cavalier or sunfire. if anyone can let me no that would be great

Yes it can be done and has been done. A guy on the Quad 4 forums did it. He has pics and all posted up there. I will look it up and find you a link if you would like to use his work as a reference. I was also thinking of doing the LSJ swap project but if I do it, it will be put on hold since I have just added another J-Body to my collection (Whew long story).
*On Topic* It was suggested to me that if you are going to use the LSJ, that the F23 trans is a better choice over the regular OEM LSJ trans. Good luck!

Unless there was a second guy on Quad4Forums that actually did it... the first guy never finished the project, as the trans was too big to fit into the car.
I have a friend locally who is doing it in his 97 I want to say. Nothing wired up yet, but I think everything is mounted. PM me and I will see if I can hook the two of you up. Maybe he hasn't gotten to the transmission mounting yet. He has had to use a lot of custom parts. Custom axles, trans spacer, motor mounts, etc.

WHY go through the hassel are people out there that dumb just put the SC on a j body eco and be done why spend all that money and time for the same endresult that can be had for a faction of the cost and a case a beer and a saturday afternoon

the LSJ has a stronger sand-cast head, sodium filled valves, stronger internals, lower piston speed per given RPM, higher rod stroke ratio, piston squirters, integrated oil cooler, and better flywheel/ clutch options.
but if you're looking to just boost the car for as cheaply and as quickly as possible, then I digress.

i could just throw a super charger on a ecotec and call it a day, but it would cost more for the super charger kit then what it would cost for the motor and tranny,plus the motor has a stage 2 and puts out more power the a reg ecotec with a super charger
So pull the supercharger stuff off the LSJ, part the LSJ out, pick up a L61 for cheap, toss the supercharger stuff on the L61 and end up making more power than a regular "stage 2" LSJ for less money and less headaches.

my buddys buildin a L61 bottom end with a saab 2.0 head but most people think i gotta swap out for this cobalt motor and make all this power when it can be had just as easy another way
its like when people talk about doin a 3800sc swap i tell them not to all it has goin for it is unique i run the same time slips as my bussies saab turbod ecotec because if i mash it off the line i spin i need some REALLY F'in WIDE tires to hook up
theres so many people that think getting an engine with lots of power is the way when really they should search or asl questions.
i would love to see someone complete an LSJ swap lots talk about it but no one finishes it i also wanna see it run off a factory cluster like i have my 3800 doin on 00+ gauges none of these autometer clusters and no CEL light stuff i want to see something that looks stock

The idea of an LSJ swap just isn't that exciting (to me) anymore... when you can bolt most of it onto the stock engine and go.. why bother.
But an LNF swap.. now you're talking! Even if you have to swap all the wiring, controls, computer, cluster, etc... basically stuff a late model Cobalt SS into a J-car body... it would still be fun, if you're really intent on keeping the J-car. Or you have a 'vert.. but I already have the L67 swap done, so there's no point in me doing it now..
Or.. better yet... find a wrecked Solstice GXP or Sky Redline, put the LNF with rear wheel drive in... or make an AWD J-car... that would certainly be unique.
Just swap an LNF with an F40/A tranny, NFW swap modded for Delta front hubs, Saab 93-Aero rear suspenion. Full erection sans Viagra.
