i did it before on my 99 2.2L but i felt i made a lot of lengthy detours and coould have done iit faster. does anyone have any advice for a step by step process sort of thing for replacing this gasket on my 99 pontiac sunfires 2.2L. i will of ourse be getting the head shaven if warped whatsoever and all cleans up including valves too. thanks for the help!
step 1 unhook battery
step 2 pull serp belt
step 3 remove alternator and alternator bracket
step 4 remove spark plug wires
step 5 remove exhaust manifold and studs
step 6 remove coil and coil bracket
step 7 remove all necessary wiring hooked to back of block and injectors coil... everything pretty much top end
step 8 remove throttle and if has cruse control remove
step 9 remove quick connects at fuel lines
step 10 remove injectors and injector rail
step 11 support engine with jack and remove upper motor mount
step 12 remove motor mount bracket on side of head
step 13 remove valve cover
step 14 remove rockers (keep in order)
step 15 remove pushrods (keep in order)
step 16 remove head bolts
step 17 remove intake after head is pulled much easier this way
I may have miss a step or 2 but i cant remember everything i did but thats the basic idea
