J-body.org "business" cards???
Monday, July 11, 2005 7:48 PM
Don't ask me why, but last night when I was trying to sleep (way to hot of a weekend) I thought about getting back up and messing around with new designs/"propoganda" for this site. I was wondering if this has been done, or if it could possibly be done. I think that if someone on here thats fairly skilled with photoshop could make the design (few member's cavis and fires on it, with the website address and maybe some catchy phrase). I figured if this was posted, then anyone who wants could print out the picture and then either give them out at some shows or else even just stick it under the wipers of some random J's you see around town. This could help the membership grow, and also let the Sunfire and Cavalier owners know about this site. I know when I first came across it was by pure luck, and around our area there isn't much known for customizing besides the usual civics and eclipses. Just my two cents, but wanted to share it and get the idea started.

I think it's a great idea. If I had the skills (or photoshop for that matter) I'd give it a try.

Really you'd have to get in touch with the site's über-master, David Piasecki (dave@j-body.org), to get permission to do something like that with the logo. I had emailed him quite a while ago about using the logo on some HVAC overlays, etc. for members but never got a response back. Perhaps you will have better luck...

At least I THINK he's the guy to contact... lol

Let us know how you make out 'cause it's a good idea!

well, if anyone knows the best way to contact whoever needs to be contacted, please respond on here. Also if anyone can try to make up a design, it would be really cool. Any ideas and suggestions are very welcome, the more positive reactions we can get on this, the higher probability of this happening.

Anybody want to post some nice clean pics of their J-bodies for this, then hopefully someone could try out some designs. Thanks

i think 3x5.5 or 4x6 cards or fliers (or whatever else they can be called) would suite this purpose a bit better. also if you're going to be using members' cars, ask permission first just to be on the safe side of things. good luck.

We already do this with our local forums Massdriven, they're free cards and you can hand them out to whoever.

Thats the main reason I asked for people to post pics of their own cars, so then they would be giving permission right there, and be available to use also.

The problem isn't making the cards, really, it's more of the use of the logo (and the look of the logo). We're stuck either using the nasty 72 dpi version (site masthead above is NOT good for print use, quality is too low) -- unless somebody has done a good tracing of it in Illustrator or Freehand -- or just using text. Text would work, but the logo would be better...

I had considered tracing it, but didn't want to spend the time, especially since it DOES exist out there someplace... And I hate duplicating work. lol

If you are going to use the logo, get the real deal if you can. It'll look better and the cards need to look good "print-wise," not just design-wise. After all, we're considering these biz cards as the "JBO emissaries" of sorts...

Just my 2 cents.

jbodied: nice to see you again... it's been a while since I've been around here!

Hey guys, I have posted in the photos forum and have gotten a bunch of pics with permission to use them. If anyone on here could take any pics off of there and try out making a design with the website address on it that would be really cool. I think we have a lot of backing on this, and I would gladly start designing but I am pretty low skill on my photoshopping. here is the link to it--

as far as the logo goes the original document would be best. however it wouldn't be hard to trace. if you guys want you can try to get the original from whomever created it and beg for permission to use it (good luck). or you can find someone to pen it out in vector format.

if you're serious about getting them printed, i'd start price checking print shops and then decide how many colors you want to use, and how many it would be to practical to print. since they'd be strickly promotional it's pretty much just going to be money shelled out with no returns, might want to think of a fund raiser unless you can find people willing to just throw money into it. in any case good luck. if this does go through i would be interested in doing design work for it.
