Spark plugs.

Hey guys, I know your supossed to run colder plugs, but I can't find any.

I don't have nitrouse yet, but if you go into any autostore and ask for a spark plug that's 2 steps colder than stock, they look at you like your on acid. I've tried to find colder plugs for my car becuase of my open exaust, and no one will help me. I've got bosche platinums (one electrode, not that plus 4 crap), and they start to burn down in around a few months.

Anone know where to find colder plugs , and wich are the best plugs to use (naturally aspirated and with NX for when I get it).. I know what colder means, so I don't need a description, just wan't to know the best brand/type, and how to pry other than "stock replacement" plugs out of the parts counter guy hands.

I need my plugs to stop melting.

Have the parts guy look up the stock replacement in NGK copper core plugs. Once he finds that, you'll know the stock heat range. For example, stock heat range for my car is TR55, so one step colder is TR6, and 2 steps colder is TR7. The higher the number the colder the plug. But that's just NGK for all I know, that's why you should have him look up NGK's. And NEVER use platinum plugs with nitrous, just so you know when you start running it.

Ya, I wanted NGK's but no one in town carries, them (what the !@#$). I ended up getting a one step colder copper core plug made my some company I can't remember. There the only ones I could get colder than stock. Whenever I get NX hooked up, I'm gunna hunt down some NGK's. In the mean time, Hopefully, these make enough of a difference. Auto part stores around here suck. The guy at car quest actually tried to make fun of me because I asked if he had 8mm wires for my car. Way to treat your costumers. Needless to say, I don't go there anymore. So far the Autozone guys are cool. We need a (real) performance auto store around here. I live in a freaking hick town.

I put in some copper core Denso spark plugs, one step colder than stock (all I could get)

Funny thing is the car runs quieter now. There's a significant difference. As long as they last, I should be set until I fork out the cash for NX. Who woulda fiqured.

TR7s dont exist.
I dislike NGK plugs in my car. too many misfires.
I run Champion S59DR which are 3 steps cooler than stock.

Interesting. Good to know. Haven't had any problems with my NGK TR6's, but this car is the only car I've ever had that liked NGK's. I've used them before in some of my cars and biked, and was never impressed. One of my bikes flat out refused to run with the NGK plug. That bike was a wild 2 stoke though.

A TR7 isn't an Iridium plug, TR7IX is an Iridium plug.

A TR6 = an Iridium IT20
A TR55= an Iridium IT16

While a TR7IX is the correct size to fit into a J engine....

If a TR55 (stock) plug = IT16
and a TR6 (one step colder) = IT20
why would you think a non-existant TR7 would = a TR7IX and then that plug would be 2 steps colder than a TR55.
