Hey everyone...gunna be getting some money in pretty soon and i am thinking about a 100 progressive shot..does anyone have any suggestions/comments about the idea..I have a 2001 2.4 with Intake, Header-exhaust and hp tuners...A couple of questions are do I (NEED) to go 1/2 step cooler spark plugs?? Also..what do i need to do about the timing for this kind of progressive shot (if any)? Thanks in advance for anyones help on this..
you should do colder plugs to help reduce the chance of detonation.. also the only way to tell what your going to need for timing is get the car on a dyno and tune it.. If anyone else tells you anything else they are stupid. because timing on my car with a 100 shot is more then likely alot different then your car...
Cold Plugs - Heck yea bro... definately need those...
Timing - ummm... FAQ says retard by 1-2 degrees... but I'll agree with Ry, a dyno would decide the exact specifics there....
I'm still trying to find a dyno down here, blah! =-x

Thanks for the info Ry...also jake...you can always try CFT...thats where I dynoed my car..its a mustang dyno tho so its not exactly right.
A rough starting guidline for ignition timing is to pull 1 degree for every 25hp sprayed. But for your best results get it tuned at the dyno. best of luck and post your results from dyno!

yes...cft in orlando...I dynoed there with (144hp and 148 trq)...but they said it should be higher cus there dyno is off...but thanks for the advice...and i think i will end up buying my nitrous kit..i was thinken bout suspension but i have 50% of that done already so...ill see what happens :-)
Kyle, what's your plan for a progressive controller and a box for controlling the timing?
Also, what fuel will you run for the 100 shot? It will play a role in how much to retard the timing.

I plan on running this controller....

I havent figured out the timing part yet..I have hp tuners so thats why im Researching it first...the fuel i plan to run is 93+ octane if not higher..
again thanks for the help on this..im new to the nitrous seen and ive seen motors blow due to not reading up into it carefully..i read the faqs but it didnt cover progressive stuff..
93+ Definately bro, gotta run the premium otherwise u'll be firing like crap... and also watching fuel pressure like a hawk... otherwise ur gonna bomb like blackout did and you dont wanna lose ur car yet again!

Thats not a progressive controller, its a window switch. I'd suggest the FJO/NX mini progressive controller... its about $250 or so.
For a 100shot, not sure if you're gonna have to @!#$ with timing, 93+ octane will take care of ya... I'm running ~26* n/a (compared the stock 20* stock) of advance in my 11.3:1 motor, with just a little detonation above 7000rpm with 91. Of course, tread carefully, I'd say, start with a 50shot, no detonation move to a 75shot, no detonation, move to a 100shot. Just make sure you got a nice rich (< 12:1) air fuel ratio.

alright....sounds good..i know there are certain things you are (suppose) to do with the motor but since its gunna be a (progressive) shot..alls i need is higher octane? nothing else?
A 100 shot is still pushing it... and I just noticed you had a 2.4, so yeah, gonna have to take out some timing... 3-4* or so.
