I am not sure if this is supposed to be the way it sounds or not, i had a sony head unit(not sure what model) it had 50x4, and the bass would actually move the side mirrors and these are just stock 6x9. I installed a new head unit today after my old on got stolen and now the bass is like non existant, this new unit is 45x4 would a dif of 5 make the bass come out that much softer? do i have some wires hooked up wrong or something?
hey, i have the same problem kind of. my stock speakers and head unit hit harder than my aftermarket polks and inifinities with a new 200w head unit. maybe its the wiring? idk ...

First check to make sure your amps being powered, i know mine has an led indicator on it but if your doesnt have one, the tell tale fan whurr should be enough. Next make sure your new head unit has aux/sub enabled, I had the same problem with my alpine and it turns out i missed that section in the manual. Without this option enabled my subs were barely moving but were still powered. Although this is if you are using an aux input, just my .02
hmmm, could u be suggesting my head unit is underpowered? its a pioneer 3600 200w. and yes the loud function is turned to medium on my controls. and the other things are turned up. i guess ill have to get an amp to my speakers too.

Turn off loud. Loudness kills speakers, especially tweeters.
